Kuhn Construction Case Studies: Kitchen Remodel

Tuesday, August 13th, 2019 by Rachel Gebhardt

Challenge

Monte and Loretta J. of East Islip contacted Kuhn Construction to meet their kitchen remodeling needs. The homeowners love to cook and entertain, but their original kitchen did not meet their standards. Their adjacent formal dining was barely put to use. Their kitchen space was too small for an eat-in table. They also lacked counter-space.

Solution

Kuhn’s solution was to eliminate partial divider wall to create one big open floor plan, add a unique 1/4 pie-shape island in contrasting dark cabinetry to break up the white/grey light tones and include seating for 3-4 for everyday, casual use.

Kuhn’s lead interior designer, Carolyn D. worked with the homeowners to design and bring their dream kitchen to life. To maintain the home’s character and charm, the kitchen was transformed into a functional, transitional-style space with rustic touches. Wood plank tile with radiant heat was installed. Kuhn incorporated a bar serving area with wine cooler and sink, and a one-of-a-kind quartzite stone countertop. Kuhn was able to find a location for their existing china cabinet.  New exterior doors and windows were put in. Also, a chandelier was installed to help lighten and brighten up the new kitchen.

Monte and Loretta J. are satisfied with Kuhn Construction, their production and design team. They now get to enjoy cooking and entertaining in their new and improved kitchen.
